Hello, everyone fanty here watching fanta vision and today we're actually doing a viewer requested idea. Today'S idea comes from a user on discord who asked the following. Sir fanta new fan: love your content, here's my suggestion as an ex-employee of gamestop. I am still a loyal shopper with the power up rewards membership, but i'm worried about gamestop's future as a whole from ps5 xbox series x, pre-orders, as well as where to shop for physical next gen. I want to pick somewhere with either consistently good deals or a rewards program to get points. What would you recommend to your viewers? Stay awesome. Well, thank you d, chow 69. For that question, slash video idea happy to help, because gamestop has never been the best place to buy video games. I learned that, after working at gamestop for a couple years and comparing our weekly ads to best buys targets, amazon and all that stuff, i would argue that best buy. If you're looking for a rewards program, they have the best rewards program right now. I have saved a ton of money with that, because you can rack up points and you can use that towards anything in the store which is already better than gamestops, because i believe you can only use those on games. You can't use them on like steam cards. Stuff like that, another reason i like best buy more than gamestop for when it comes to value and deals is because they have better deals most of the time and also when you're pre-ordering games from best buy sometimes they'll give you a 10 reward certificate. Now, unfortunately, you can't use that 10 right away. You have to use it on your next purchase, but again you can use that ten dollars towards anything in the store. So that's already better than gamestop, because gamestop doesn't give you just ten dollars for pre-ordering. Something they've been doing that sometimes they've been copying their model a little bit, but it's not on most games, whereas best buy seems to be doing it with a lot more games. Also, like i said week to week. Overall, the best deals are going to be at best buy instead of gamestop gamestop you're gon na get a lot of great deals on really old games that nobody cares about anymore and then best buy you're going to get pretty good deals and even modern games that Just came out whenever i see a game drop in price, usually it drops at best buy and then amazon matches it, which is the next place i want to talk about, which is amazon. Amazon is phenomenal because you can get that game so fast. Some things have one day: shipping two-day shipping, it's insanely fast, if you pre-order a game, you're gon na get on day, one, however they're, probably the worst place to pre-order, because you don't get anything for it. Amazon used to give you ten dollars, but now they don't give you anything because they know they don't need to try. Amazon dominates the online marketplace for so many different reasons: convenience price. They don't need to just incentivize people to start buying games from there, because that's not even that high of a margin to begin with, but something that is cool about amazon is that they'll usually match the price of whatever's on sale. So if you see a game on sale, let's just say i don't know call of duty model warfare or something like that and it's 30 bucks at best buy normally. Amazon is going to lower their price to match that sale and if you've got amazon. Prime you're going to be getting free shipping, you don't go anywhere and right now, a lot of people don't want to go anywhere. You don't want to have to deal with these stores because i've seen the outside of best buys and they got like weird tents and they're, letting a couple people in at a time and there's lines. I don't quite know what they're doing now, but a couple weeks ago, that's what i saw so if you're gon na buy something from best buy. I would do like the site to car thing where you can like pick it up in your car and let them know when you've arrived. A lot of places are doing that right now, which is awesome, a place that you normally wouldn't think of would have good pricing on video games is walmart. Now we talked about how best buy, gives you ten dollars on a gift card. A lot of games when they're first coming out are just marked down ten dollars at walmart, so walmart is actually having the best deals out of everywhere. I mean we're. Seeing games come out at 50 bucks that are just released like they're, not even on the shelf yet, and i'm seeing it tweeted out by cheapassgamer and wario 64, which are two people you should follow on twitter and their empty shelves and they've got the game slot. There, with that price, 50 bucks, i'm also seeing even games that are not 60 bucks at launch. I'Ve seen tony hawk the new one, not even out yet priced at 33 dollars. So, even though we don't have the gamers club unlocked, which was the 20 off membership program at best buy, which was the best deal in gaming and phenomenal, and i'm sad that it's gone, but now we kind of have its match over at walmart. That'S the new replacement, it's just walmart releasing games at 10 off. The only problem is, i don't want to go to walmart or support walmart, so i actually haven't taken advantage of that yet and i think i still have gamers club unlocked. I don't know. Oh, i probably don't i may have to start having games shipped to me from walmart, so i don't actually have to go to the store or go to like the automated kiosk. That is one thing. click to investigate cool about. Walmart is that a lot of these walmarts are getting this whole automated system. So you don't even have to deal with anybody. You walk up. You scan your phone for your online order and then it just has this giant like vending machine thing, and it just gives you your package, which is your order, and it's so simple and awesome, and you just walk in get it walk out. Super easy. You don't have to talk anybody talk to anybody, don't touch anything perfect target occasionally has really good deals on games, but they are few and far between and overall they're, just kind of the worst place to buy video games right now they used to be one of The best because they had this glitch going on where, whenever you pre-ordered a game, you'd get a certain amount of money off and you could stack it with price matching amazon because for some reason, target will have games that are 20 at amazon. 60 bucks in the store for no reason, so you just price match, and then you get this huge ass discount, which is like 30 percent off on top of that. But there hasn't been a deal like that in such a long time - and i know this user d chow was really hoping to get some sort of membership, something that was going to give them a discount. But unfortunately, those just don't exist anymore, like i said best buy, had the gamers club unlocked, which was 20 off, and it was just a crazy deal, which is why it doesn't exist anymore. It was too good to survive. Gamestop'S membership does not make it worth shopping. There at all yeah you're getting that five dollar coupon every month, but five dollars off is not as good as 10.. It'S just math and the thing is with that: five dollar coupon, if you don't use it during that month, it's gone. So it's not like you can just keep stacking up these coupons over time. You can't put them towards pre-orders you're, basically fubar. If you don't use it, and i don't because i don't shop at gamestop, so i'm constantly getting emails telling me i've got this. Five dollar rewards thing, but i'm not going to go use it because i don't want to go to gamestop right now. Hell i don't want to ever go to gamestop, even when there's not a pandemic. However, if you're looking for used games, that's where it gets a little bit more dicey, it's a little bit more difficult to get used games at other places that aren't gamestop gamestop in my experience has been the best place to buy used games. Surprisingly, i don't want to recommend craigslist right now, because i don't want to go near other people. Ebay is an option for sure and that's where i've bought a couple used things mostly controllers and stuff like that. But overall it seems like at least in my area. Gamestop has the best prices on used games and even without that 10 discount anymore, it's still better than any of these mom-and-pop shops or the little places nearby. Now this of course varies greatly depending on where you live, but where i live, you look at ebay and then you look at what they sell games there at the mom and pop shop and they're literally the exact same, whereas on ebay i don't have to go Anywhere i mean i can be my pajamas and i can order the game that i want whenever i want, but at the mom and pop shop i have to drive all the way there, which is clear across town and the prices aren't even good. Gamestop pricing is usually at ebay or a little bit lower, depending on what game you're looking at. Some of them are a little bit inflated, but most of them fall right in line with ebay. But if you're looking at buying modern games, most modern games, you can buy for new cheaper than you can buy it used at gamestop. I don't quite understand what gamestop is thinking by pricing: their games, five dollars less than the new version, but because their new version at gamestop is already more expensive than everybody else that has it new, they just lose. So when gamestop is gone, i understand that you enjoy shopping there. For now, i'm telling you you're not gon na, be missing much unless you're buying older gen games or just really old. Current gen games, you're, not saving a whole lot of money. Also something i've noticed with gamestop speaking of buying just used games in general is that their inventory is just garbage. I have tried to use this five dollar off coupon, but whenever i check the locations nearby, they don't have any of the used games that i care about. I was like oh i'm gon na try final fantasy, 15, 16, whatever it is before the latest final fantasy. That isn't the remake. I was like. Oh it's only six dollars i'll use, my five dollar coupon. Oh wait. It doesn't exist anywhere and their shipping costs make it completely not worth buying unless you spend enough money there. But i don't want to spend a bunch of money at gamestop because it's not a good deal except for the couple used games that i want to buy and i want to use my coupon on. But i can't do that because then the shipping kills it. It'S just it's this cycle of just disappointment and crap and is the reason i don't shop there that's another problem with best buy. Is they also charge for shipping, except for certain times of year or if you've spent enough money that you're, like an elite member or whatever so in-store pickup for best buy or walmart is the way to go because walmart also charges for shipping? That'S how amazon is the king is because you just have prime and yes you're still paying for prime, but it comes with all these other things, including like a music service. Video service and you're gon na buy a bunch of other stuff on there anyway. So you basically just have that shipping, or you know somebody with prime just use their account and you're getting two days shipping, whereas everyone else is trying to charge you like five bucks. So overall, if you're looking for the best membership place, that's best buy if you're. Looking for the best prices at launch for most games, that's walmart and overall, i think it's kind of tied between the two of best buy and walmart gamestop's, not even on the board target stopped trying a long time ago. But those two are the best places to buy video games. In my opinion, there were other competitors in the past that i feel like beat them all the time circuit city killed it in the video game deals department. I mean they were even better than best buy, not as good as best buy with the gamers club unlocked, but when it was around, the weekly deals were phenomenal. I bought so many games from circuit city. It was crazy. There was a place called ultimate electronics. That was here, they were really cool. They constantly had buy one get one 50 off of games. I mean that was just a magical time. It was great and both of those places don't exist anymore. They both are defunct, don't exist anywhere so out of all the options walmart and best buy or where it's at and then, if you're, super lazy and a deal's a game is on sale. Amazon is your best bet. Just you have to go anywhere, so hopefully i helped dechow69 as well as everybody out there. Let me know if i helped out by leaving a like comment down below what your favorite place is to buy video games and, as always, have a fanta fantastic day. See you guys today, i'm drinking. My last here comes mango ipa from belching, beaver, very delicious, that brewery name i was, i get why they called it that it's a burping beaver, but i don't know it just sounds wrong. Also, of course i am streaming tonight. It is the last, hopefully, the last majora's mask stream. The last one was supposed to be the last, but i did not get the sun mask because i didn't know what the hell i was doing and the puzzle is just over like that and if you screw up at all the game just gives you a middle Finger and says, hey have fun playing the next three days again and i'm like oh screw. This and just uh played something else for the rest of the night, because it was very upsetting, but we will get this game beat tonight so be there for the majora's mask finale.
